Library!

This morning Mom and AT took me to the library to see my favorite people and my super special friend, Grace, my bff Rigby's sister! I started whimpering in the car when we got to the parking lot cause I knew where we were. I ran inside and jumped all over Grace to make sure Rigby would know I was there! Then I said hello to all my other friends! They are all very excellent at rubbing my belly! I was really tired after that so we went home. Mom accidently left her key at the library so AT and I had to wait outside in the hot backyard while Mom went and borrowed a key from Grandpa! All in all a good day though!

Wake up call

This morning I was hanging out in my crate, sharpening my teeth on the wire door, not bothering anyone. I was happy cause I was in air conditioning! All of a sudden AT was on the floor in front of me. He woke me up instead of me waking him up! I ran out of my crate and looked for something to chew. I found a sock of Dad's but it wasn't used and therefore not tasty! Then I found Mom's slipper! Unfortunately Mom sent the Mecki wrangler after me. Then she put me on the bed so I could wake up Dad! 

Sharing my space

Last night, Mom made me go up on the thing that my toys live on. She calls it a bed. She put a treat up there, so I bounced right up to get it. Then AT decided to join me! I don't mind sharing with him! Mom took a photo with the ipad and then figured out how to send it! It is a very good photo. I look adorable as usual, and AT looks good too!

I've figured out how to get more snacks now. Whenever we go for a walk, I flop down on the ground every couple of feet. Then Mom and AT bribe me with treats!

No more pool!

We had so much rain that my pool is looking very inviting-green and murky! I was outside getting ready to jump in when Mom came and chased me away. Then she picked up my pool and dumped all the water out! How rude! She even turned it upside down so I couldn't play in it. I jumped up on top and then jumped down, grabbed a corner and pulled it in to the corner. Mom got mad and chased me off it and made me go back in the kitchen.

Exercise before bed

Since Mom and Dad know that I can climb up and down the stairs, I decided to institute my new pre-sleep exercise routine! Dad took me out for my last walk and put me on the steps. I ran upstairs and into Dad's bedroom to grab a rolled up bunch of socks that he keeps lying around for me. I grabbed them and ran around the hallway and AT's room. Dad came up to help catch me, but I tricked them by running all the way downstairs! Dad had to send AT (the Mecki wrangler) after me. I was harder to catch cause I was naked-no collar! AT chased me back up the stairs and I ran around the rooms. Then I made a hard left and ran down the stairs again! Dad sent AT back after me. This time, he carried me upstairs and put me in front of my crate. I decided that they had all gotten sufficient exercise so I went in and ate my cookie.

Carrots

Mom and I took a walk tonight that I did NOT want to take. But she made me go anyway. I kept flopping on the grass, but Mom was tricky and had brought snacks that I had to get up to get. Finally I flopped down right next to a driveway and a car pulled in.  I was rolling around showing my disapproval when three woman got out and said "look how cute he is!" Of course I had to get up and go say hello. They all gave me belly rubs and petted me. Mom told them how "naughty" I was but they just laughed and petted me more. When they went inside, Mom made me walk again so I jumped up and bit her shorts. When we got home I was still agitated, so I hunted my carrot!

Carrots are very sneaky. You have to catch them and then flip them in the air to show them who's the boss! They are not as good as an antler cause they don't last very long.

Napping with Mom

Today I napped with Mom-only cause no one else was home and there was nothing else to do. She was lying on the floor holding the antler of power so I was forced to go lie by her and gnaw on the antler. Finally AT and Dad came home and Mom made me go for a walk by making AT go too.

Getting my sea legs!

Last night I got to sleep in the air conditioning again, but for some reason I was very whiny. I made Mom get up at 1:40am and at 6:00am and take me out! Then I whined again at 7am and she put me in the kitchen. I really just wanted out of my crate so I could go and jump on AT-he was sleeping in our room too!
  This morning Mom and AT and I went to Sands Point. We went down to the beach and AT took off his shoes and socks. I don't know why humans put so much stuff on! He left me and Mom and went into the water. I was upset cause I don't like it when AT goes to far from me. I was scared of the waves but I wanted to be by AT so I bravely followed him in the water. He went farther and farther in and so did I until suddenly there was nothing under my feet! I had to swim for my life! I swam towards him a little and then turned around and swam towards Mom until there was ground again. Of course Mom forgot to bring the camera so no video this time! Then we went up to the castle and I drank a bowl of water and a fireman petted me! I'd call that a good day!

Air conditioners rule!

It is still hot out, but Mom made Dad put in the air conditioner so I got to sleep in nice cool air.Last night Mom tried to trick me into eating my kibble by putting a frosty paws in it! I'm no dummy, so I nosed all the kibble out of the bowl and ate the frosty paws. It was so nice and cool. Later on I ate the kibble. I tried to run around and be naughty last night but AT is very good at catching me. Mom says that he is a Mecki wrangler. I'll have to get speedier to escape him!

Hot!

It took me all day yesterday to recover. That's a lot of walking for such a small dog! And a  lot of new things to smell! Today Mom and AT decided to fill up MY pool with water and splash in it! How rude! Then they threw my soccer ball and frisbee in. I was forced to jump in and save them!

Then AT decided to squirt me with a water gun. Well I don't like that at all. Sometimes when I'm bad Mom squirts me. I ran and hid under Mom's chair and decided that as long as I was there, I should shake the water off. Mom said that I looked like a small drowned rat.

I did like being in my pool-but don't tell Mom! I like to run around in circles and drink the water-it always tastes better outside! Now that I'm all soggy, I'm stuck in the kitchen!

A long road trip

 Today Mom woke me up really early. Everyone was up and we got into the car for a long drive. After a while we stopped and Dad gave me food but I didn't want to eat. So we got back in the car and went to Mystic Seaport. There was a lot of stuff to sniff there! Lots of boats to jump in and grass to sniff. People still didn't know what I was but there were a lot of kids to play with! Then we went to a restaurant and they ate very yummy food and gave me KIBBLE! Then back in the car with my backseat buddy AT! We stopped at the Pez museum but I wasn't allowed in-how rude! Finally we got home and I am taking a well deserved rest.

An adventurous day!

Today Mom dropped some peanuts in the shell on the floor. I was quicker than her and I grabbed them and ran under the table. Then I shelled them and ate them. It was even better than peanut butter.
  The big adventure almost gave Mom a heart attack. She left me and AT in the backyard playing and went into the living room. She was looking out the window when she saw a small dark blur go speeding by (ME!) followed by AT. Mom said "What is Mecki doing outside!" and ran outside to look. By that time I had chased AT back into the backyard!  Mom said that we were both very lucky!

Still spoiled!

Well Mom is still carrying me up and down the stairs, but only sometimes. Sometimes I climb up the stairs and she follows me so that if I slip or fall, she can catch me. The stairs are very steep and not long enough for my 2ft long body! This morning she carried me down and then I ran back upstairs to jump on AT's bed and wake him up. It's Father's Day so I got to wake up Dad too! Then Dad chased me around and I jumped way up high onto the bed cause Mom and AT were up there. Then we all snuggled and I dug tunnels under the blankets. It was a good morning!

My secret is out

Today is an even better best day ever! Today AT came! He was hiding in the backyard. Dad let me out and I was running around and all of a sudden there he was!

It is so much fun to have him here! But unfortunately I was so excited to see him that I let my secret out in front of Mom and Dad. AT was upstairs playing and I wanted to go play with him. Dad was busy and wasn't looking but I didn't realize that Mom was upstairs too. I climbed all the way up the stairs and ran into his room. Mom heard me and came and brought me back downstairs.  When she and Dad weren't looking , I climbed back up the stairs to play. I hid in Mom's room and grabbed one of Dad's socks. She chased me so I climbed all the way downstairs with the sock! Now Mom and Dad know that I can do the stairs. I hope it doesn't stop them from carrying me up and down-that's my favorite mode of transportation!

BAD bunnies!

Last night when Mom took me out for my last walk, all I could smell was bunny! I was not happy to go inside as I wanted to chase that smell. All night I lay in my crate whimpering and dreaming of bunnies.
  This morning I waited forever for Mom to get dressed and take me outside. Once out the door, I ran to the spot where I had smelled the great smells. I snuffled around with my tail wagging madly and making excited little barking noises. You have to bark to let people know that you're on the trail of something! Mom kept trying to talk to me but I was busy tracking the scent of that bunny! It smelled really fresh and I ran all around the lawn following it. Mom was still trying to tell me something and pull me somewhere -Couldn't she see that I was busy? Finally Mom stopped and yelled something. I was busy sniffing but eventually I realized what she said. Apparently while I was busy tracking the bunny smell, the actual bunny had been sitting there watching me and jumping around behind me the whole time! I was mad at Mom for not letting me know so I grumbled when she made me go inside!

Bad night's sleep

With all the excitement of seeing Alec, I was too wired to sleep. I jumped around in my crate and whined pitifully until Mom dragged herself out of bed to take me outside at 5:30am. Then she was mean cause she told me there was a big fat tasty bunny on the lawn but I didn't see him at all. I hate when the bunnies don't move! I am not a sighthound, I am a scenthound and the wind was obviously not blowing in the right direction. Then instead of carrying me back upstairs to my crate, she put me in the kitchen!

Alec's back!

Today was the best day ever! Grandpa came over which is exciting enough, but Alec was with him! I haven't seen Alec in a long time. Mom said that I haven't seen him for a year! That must be a really long time. I was so excited to see him that I jumped all over him. Alec said that I got a lot bigger.Mom said that on Friday I will have an even more exciting day! While I was jumping on Alec, two of Dad's friends came over. It was a very exciting day!

Warning! Penguins may look tasty...

Penguins should definitely come with a warning. Mom was wearing these little penguins slippers. They looked so tasty and soft that I got mad at her for wearing them. So I sat and barked at her feet. After a while she took them off and put on her shoes. Then she put the penguins socks way up on the steps in an attempt ( a bad attempt) to keep them away from me. We went on our walk and then came home. Mom was sitting on the couch and while she wasn't looking, I snuck up the stairs (the same stairs that I refuse to go up or down at bedtime or in the morning-I prefer to be carried as more befits my princely status) and grabbed a penguin. It was as soft and tasty as it looked! Mom chased me around, wrestled it out of my mouth and banished me to the kitchen. Stupidly she put put the penguin back on the steps but higher up. Dad came home and saw me looking all sad in the kitchen. He let me out and while he was talking to Mom, I snuck up and got another penguin! A wild chase ensued that ended in the kitchen with Dad yelling at me!

Vampire bunnies

For a while I thought that the bunnies were vampire cause I only saw them on my property when it was getting dark out. They are very nervy as they jump all over my lawn and eat the tastiest bits of grass. However, this morning when Mom took me out for my first walk-there it was! That bunny! Sitting right next to the lavender and the statue of me! He sat there calmly eating and I was so mad! And Mom is so slow! He got away but let him try that in the backyard I thought!
    Mom is home sick. That means she is hiding from me upstairs whilst I am in forced seclusion in the kitchen. Fortunately I snuck my antler in!

Harness=car ride

This morning after we came downstair, Mom sat on the couch holding my harness. Yay a car ride! I ran over to Mom and stood there patiently while she put my harness on. I was excited to leave but Mom took forever to get ready. She found my water bottle and my long big boy leash. Finally we were ready to go. We went outside and got in Mom's car. It was a long ride and I wondered where we were going. Finally we got to a place with castles and lots of grass and a place with very salty water.  Mom and I walked on a couple of trails and finally went down to the water. It was too salty to drink but I lay down on the wet sand cause it was cool. I made friends with a black lab who was all wet cause he had gone swimming. Mom and I stopped for a water break-I was really thirsty! We climbed up and sat by the castle, then got in the car only this time the car had no top!! That meant there was a much bigger breeze! I was tired when I got home and went to lie on the cool kitchen floor.

Waiting for Dad to wake up

Today Dad is very grumpy and doesn't want to play with me. He is lying on my futon sleeping. I tried to wake him up but he is snoring. So I went into the living room and took a nap in front of the tv while Mom sat on the couch. I had a good dream about Dad -we were playing in the backyard and I wagged my tail with happiness. I woke up to Mom laughing about my tail wagging while I was sleeping. You must have been dreaming about Dad she said.

Just the boys

Last night was boy's night-just me and Dad. Mom doesn't come home until bedtime.Usually she comes in the kitchen door. I was playing with Dad when I heard a Mom-like noise, so I ran to the kitchen door (she likes me to do my wiggily "someone's home!" dance). She tricked me though and came in throught the front door, so I had to run back through the living room to jump all over her.

Bunnies are taking over the world!

Guess what? I'm not the only one with bunny problems! They are also taking over my bff Rigby's backyard! This morning when Mom took me out for a walk, I sniffed around and smelled that bunny! He has a lot of nerve, hanging out on MY lawn, eating MY grass! He could at least come in the back yard and play with me! And as I sniffed around I realized he had been all over the lawn! Trying to mark his territory, while I'll show him! I saw another annoying animal on my walk- a squirrel! It was sauntering slowly along the sidewalk. I tried running as fast as I could, but Mom is SO slow! She always makes me miss catching things! The squirrel made it up a tree and I tried to climb the tree-but that didn't work so well. I was mad at Mom for slowing me down so I barked at her. When we came home she left me in the backyard and I jumped in her raised beds to get back at  her.

Picky eater

Mom says that I am a picky eater. I say kibble is NOT tasty food and if she gave me more apple, carrot and cheese I would eat it all up! Lately I have not been eating all my food. That's because it is very very lonely to eat by oneself. Since no one joins me for breakfast, I eat all the chicken pieces and apple or carrot and leave the kibble. This morning Mom tricked me. She was eating in the kitchen so I snuck over and ate all the chicken bits and then went to lie down. Mom got up and moved to another chair and she moved my bowl! She's discovered my weakness, I thought. How does she know I like to eat in different places! I ran over and ate all the kibble. Then I sat there and waited for Mom to tell me what a good boy I was for eating all my food. But she wasn't paying attention! I nudged her knee with my nose. She looked down and saw my empty bowl. What a good boy she said! And I jumped up for a throat scratching, which is almost as good as a belly rub!

Back to my adorable perky self

I am feeling much better now. Better remember to avoid Mom when she has a lot of cheese to give out. Last night Mom and I went on a walk and there was a bunny on MY lawn! I barked and chased him away-or so I thought. We walked around the block and came down our road. I was sniffing around when all of a sudden I saw that bunny again! He was sitting by the lavendar and didn't see me until we were almost there. I jumped at him and he ran away. I could have caught him but Mom is SO slow!

sick again

Whatever Mom snuck in that cheese made me sick again. Obviously she cannot be trusted. I was stuck in the kitchen all afternoon. Finally they let me out and now I am doing my crazy laps and trying to sneak up to Mom and bite her for giving me bad stuff to eat.

no food for me

Dad was cutting up chicken for dinner. I could smell it, so I sat right at his feet waiting for something to fall. He was very neat and tidy today and I got NOTHING! Then Mom gave me some cheese, but it had something hard and crunchy and not so tasty inside it so I'm not sure what that was.

in house olympics

Mom is always talking about how if I wasn't so so "disobedient" (as she thinks, I prefer to be thought of as independently minded) she would take me to practice agility. I do my own olympics inside the house. Yesterday, I did my loop of running into the living room, grabbing my antler (relay), running into the guest room, jumping on the futon, running down it, then jumping off the futon (high jump and long jump) and sprinting back into the living room. REPEAT!
  What really go Mom laughing was when I was sniffing by the guest room and then sprinted back towards the living room, jumped in the air and threw myself on the floor face first and slid across the carpet. I had been watching baseball with Dad and was practicing sliding into first base.

Maybe next time I can be flipped in the air

Mom read me my bff Rigby's blog about his birthday and I was mentioned! That is because I picked out a most awesome present that looked and smelled like me! Rigby liked it and tossed it in the air. Next time I see him maybe he'll toss me in the air cause it looked like fun!  Or I could just bounce up and next to him and wait for him to flatten me with one paw-he is very strong!  Mom said she would buy me a box of the treats that he got too. They sure did smell good.I also saw the photo that humans use to embarass us-the birthday hat photo.
   Mom said last night she was at work and a woman came in the library with 2 smaller versions of me-Heidi and Hans. She said that maybe I can meet them. I like to meet dogs but I prefer larger dogs-they are not as delicate and more fun to play with.
