Phew!

Finally! Christmas is over! Now I have a whole new year to be bad in before even thinking of being good. It is very very hard to be the perfect pup all the time. Plus imagine how out of shape Mom and Dad would be if they didn't have to chase me around all the time. So this year, I am going to have to think of some extra special ways to be naughty. For the moment, I am focusing on hats-Grandpa's hat, Dad's cowboy hat or beret, and Mom's so called blanket that she is crocheting. What she doesn't realize  is that the time she spends crocheting would be better spent lavishing attention on me. So whenever I see her sit down with yarn, I run over and sit on both her and the yarn! Then she has to pet me!

Tallying up the damage, or one full dachshund

Mom said that we should tally up the damage:
I ate a) Charlie Brown's arm
        b) Charlie Brown's clothes (and Mom says nothing is more disturbing than a naked Charlie Brown
      c) I ate Charlie Brown's nose.
      d) I ate 2 bunny ears
      e) I ate 1 bunny leg
Mom said that I should be totally full by now if not horribly sick.
Even though I have been totally naughty, Santa was very good to me. I got a new coat, 2 new sweaters, a neck warmer, 2 bags of dog treats, several toys, a ladybug water bottle holder (which I had already stolen a peek and chew at twice yesterday
a box of doggy biscuits  and a great photo in a frame of me and my bff (I sampled the biscuits and they were tasty and Mom hung our photo on the tree!). Plus I got to see my Grandpa, my Grandpere, my Aunt Shelly and her boyfriend Brandon, and AT. Mom said we might possibly have one more visitor tonight. Overall it's been a great Christmas (although I do have a slight belly ache),.

Coal in my stocking!

Mom says that at the rate I'm going, I'll be lucky if I get coal in my stocking. But it's really not fair. It's such a long wait for Christmas and I've been SO patient! This very morning I was patient while Mom wrapped presents without paying any attention to me. But then, she started setting the dining room table. That was too much! While she was busy, I sauntered into the living room and stuck my snout in a gift bag, a gift bag that contained a present for me! I carefully lifted out the tissue paper and grabbed my ladybug water bottle toy! I carried it (unseen) into the dining room and commenced crunching! That's what gave me away! Mom yelled at me and bribed me with a  piece of cheese to get the toy back. Naughty Mecki she said! Don't you know that Santa is watching?  I didn't care, cause later after dinner when she drove my Grandpa home, I took it out of the bag again!

24 hours of being super good!

So I was very very naughty yesterday! This gives me 24 hours to be super good and get back into Santa's good graces! Grandpa was over and we were all eating dinner in the dining room. I had finished and no one was dropping any pizza on the floor for me, so I went out to look for something to do. I saw Grandpa's baseball cap hanging on the doorknob and couldn't help myself. I grabbed it and ran around with it. No one could see though, so it wasn't as fun as it could be. So I ran into the dining room to show everyone what I had! Now the fun started! Dad , AT and Mom chased me around the room until they got Grandpa's hat back (albeit a tad soggy!).
Mom said I was bad, but I had been super good earlier when Grandma was over and they were decorating the tree, so really, Mom should average it all together!

Today was a day with ups and downs.

Today was a day of ups and downs.First off Mom and I went outside. Then she brought me inside and left! That made me sad. Then she came back but she made me stay in the kitchen while she made some very tasty smelling cookies. Then my grandpa came by and said hi! I got a bellyrub! Then they both left. Then Mom came back and let me snooze on the couch with her. But then something very exciting happened! The kitchen door opened and AT was there! He's back! I was so excited. I followed him upstairs and ran around. Aside from being ignored so much by Mom, it ended up being a good day!

A slight relapse

I'm hoping Santa wasn't watching me today, cause I had a slight relapse of naughtiness. Mom has been making tons of dough today: oatmeal raisin, gingerbread and chedder rosemary (for doggies biscuits!!-FINALLY!) Due to this I am slightly covered in flour, cinnamon and ginger. Plus I snagged a bit of gingerbread dough when it fell off the wooden spoon. That was not my naughtiness though. That started last night.
Dad took me out for walk. When we came in he sent me upstairs for bedtime. Mom took off my leash but forgot to take my collar off. She didn't realize this until she had closed me in my crate. She didn't want me to jingle all night, so she opened the crate to take my collar off. I patiently let her remove my collar, but as soon as it was off, I ran between her legs, out the door and downstairs. I sat at the bottom of the stairs and barked in triumph. Dad let me hang out with him. Then today, while Mom was letting the dough cool in the fridge she let me out into the computer room with her. While she was tying, I snuck out and ran upstairs. Sadly, she heard me galumphing around upstairs (she said I sounded like a herd of elephants!). So she came upstairs to find me and tell me how bad I was.

Catching up!

Today, yet again, I had to have a stern talking to with Mom. She has forgotten to post photos of adorable me for quite a while! I made her stop wrapping presents (they weren't for me anyway) by sitting on the wrapping paper and dropping my soggy rope toy on her. As evidenced here!

Finally she agreed to blog. So here we go.
1. A while ago (before my exciting sleepover at my bff Rigby's), my grandma came to visit! Mom thinks that the visit was for her, but we all know how my cuteness draws people in. Anyway, she came to visit and of course I showered her with love and affection.

2. The night that I was going on my sleepover, Dad was very sad. And with good reason! He was really going to miss me! So I gave him one last snuggle! You can see the sadness in his eyes. He had a tough two days without me! Imagine being stuck alone with only Mom for company-no wet nose in your face, no doggie salmon flavored kisses!
3. A week later, my Auntie Joan came to visit! I was excited to see her! I jumped right up to say hello!
4.Sadly I don't have a picture of the next event. Mom and Dad went to the city to see a show. So my friend Andrew came over to walk me. Apparently their dog is super hard to get into a coat, so Andrew brought his Dad to hold me. I however love wearing my pea coat. So I sat very politely in front of them and waited for them to dress me. They were VERY surprised.
5. Mom and Dad and I went to go pick out a tree. Mom wouldn't let me show my appreciation for all the trees ( I just wanted to mark them all!) She kept me far away. Finally we picked one out and Dad tied it on top of the car. They brought it in and put on lights but no ornaments. I 'm not sure what we're waiting for, but Mom said I'll get a big surprise on Saturday! Here's a picture of me being VERY good in front of the tree (Just in case Santa is looking!)

As you can see, these are all super adorable photos of me. If I hadn't bugged Mom, my faithful readers would never have seen them!
As for me, I have had a great couple of days in the snow! After our walk to day, Mom let me play in the backyard. I ran around, dug some of the snow up, rolled, grabbed Dad's sneaker and did laps. It was great.Mom tried to lure me in with a biscuit, but no go. Then she brought out the big guns! She came out with a carrot and a jar of peanut butter! I ran and beat her to the kitchen door!

Running out of time

I am a little worried being that Christmas is approaching so quickly. You see, Mom and I had discussed what I was going to give people for christmas. But apparently she has forgotten! Yesterday, she came home with a big box with my name on it (with a picture frame and a picture of me and my bff Rigby). She told me it was my christmas present from Rigby but I couldn't open it until Christmas! Now I feel bad, it's not fair that Rigby has such a good sister that she already did all the christmas stuff. I was mad at Mom and I told her we need to get working on the Christmas stuff! I sat in front of her and barked and barked-I could tell she was trying to ignore me. Finally she said we would work on the stuff on Friday! I will make sure she does! I don't want Santa to ignore me cause Mom wasn't willing to help. It's hard to do stuff without dewclaws or thumbs!

100 % back to normal!

This morning when I woke up, I was 100% back to normal! Fully charged and totally rambunctious! Dad let me out of my condo and  stuck me on the bed with Mom. I lay on my back and wiggled around sneezing. Then Dad took me downstairs. Later, Mom came down and then there was a knock on the door! It was my Grandpa! He came and  petted me but then left. Mom let me out and went to look up something on the computer (without blocking the stairs!). As soon as she was busy, I zoomed upstairs to see what I could chew. I need to come up with a machine that sounds like me running around downstairs so that no one knows I am being naughty upstairs. Eventually with a lack of noise, Mom figured out that I was upstairs being naughty. She running upstairs and caught me red pawed with a sock. She yelled "Bad Dog" at me (which is rude!), so I countered by obeying her command to sit and stay-but added rolling on to my back and puppydog eyes to disarm her. It worked. She told me I was a good dog and attached my leash. We went downstairs and she put my coat on so we could go for a walk. I insisted on walking in the snow. Then I barked at all the neighbors. Then I ran in circles in the snow at the end of my leash. The best was when Mom was on an ice patch and I decided to run and pull her. She flailed for a while but didn't fall. Then Mom let me play in the backyard, where I discovered Dad's sneaker under the snow and threw it around for a while.
Then Mom told me that my bff had written in his blog about me. You can see it at "Rigbysmanse.blogspot.com" . She said that he was also exhausted! It was quite a fun weekend!

85% recuperated

Mom says that if I ever go on a sleepover with Rigby again, she will have to feed me pasta before to prepare me for the marathon of exercise! I have somewhat recovered. Yesterday, Dad came home at lunch to find me passed out IN the hated crate! That is how deliriously tired I was! I apparently went into the crate that I hate and snoozed?! What is wrong with me! By the time Mom and Dad came home my battery was about 85% recharged. I was excited to see them, and even more excited to go outside in the snow with Mom. I stuck my nose in every snow drift. Then I made some trails. That kinda tuckered me out, so when we went back inside I jumped up on the couch and rested. Mom dragged me into the kitchen for dinner. I miss having Rigby around to finish my meals. Mom always yells at me for not eating it all. After dinner I decided to be nice to Mom. After all she must have been totally sad and distraught without me for 3 days. When she sat on the couch, I jumped up on her and lay down (even though she DID NOT  have any food). I rolled over so she could rub my belly. That always makes people happy. I didn't even try to stick my snout onto her iPad. Instead, I lay there and dreamed about all the fun I had with my bff Rigby and his family.

The end of the sleepover

Today was the end of my sleepover at my bff Rigby's house! Mom and Dad came to pick me up. I had a great time and Grace was nice and told Mom that I was good! Mom wasn't sure about that, but said she would get the scoop from Grace tomorrow at work when I wasn't around. Rigby and I had a lot of fun. Mom said that I should feel bad about using Rigby as my pony and riding around on his back, but playing exhausts me! Also, I feel bad that my muddy tummy tracked dirt everywhere, but I personally don't think it was worth yet another bath!
When we got home, I immediately collapsed on the floor. I am so tired! Mom gave me dinner and I left some for Mom to package up for Rigby. He likes my salmon wilderness food-it brings out your inner wolf. Anyway, thanks to my bff Rigby, his sister Grace and his Ma and Pa for allowing me to vacation with them! I give the sleepover 5 Bones!

My first sleepover!

Yesterday was a very exhausting day! First my Grandpa came over so  I bounced all over in excitement. Then Mom and I went outside to walk him to his car. Another car pulled up and my Grandma got out! I was very excited to see her, cause she doesn't come visit that often! I bounced all over her. It was nice to see her but then she insisted on brushing me. After she left, I lay on the couch by Mom and took a nap. Dad came home and asked if I wanted to go for a ride! Of course I do! I love rides in the car. This ride however was not good. We ended up in a store that had yummy do treats but also bathtubs! And Dad picked me up and stuck me in one! Then Mom turned on water and soaked and shampooed me. I was very unhappy and howled as all the people in the store looked at me. Then something even worse happened! The fan of death! Mom took the fan and tried to dry me, but it just made me extremely fluffy! Finally we left. I was so exhausted! We went home and I managed to eat my dinner before collapsing.
Then Mom said she had something to tell me. I was finally old enough to have my first sleepover and it was going to start tonight. I wasn't sure what a sleepover was but I WAS VERY PERTURBED because Mom came out of the kitchen with the evil crate! I hate that crate. When I was just a tiny pup, I was put in that crate and  took a long plane ride to go live with Mom and Dad. mom and Dad were the good part, but the crate is bad! I barked at it and attacked it to no avail. Dad asked me if I wanted to take another car ride. So we went out to the car, but I noticed that the crate came too. We pulled up in front of a house I had never seen before. I barked to let the neighborhood know that I had arrived. The door opened and I saw my BFF Rigby's  sister! I ran up the steps and inside the house. Then I saw Rigby, his Mom and Dad and Grace! How exciting  I thought! Maybe a sleepover is visiting Rigby? then Mom and Dad petted me and left!
Now all my readers will have to wait until tomorrow when Mom and Dad come get me to find out if I was good or naughty, and whether Rigby and his family ever want to see me again!

Eating with Dad

It's always good when Mom goes to work and Dad stays home. I get to snuggle with Dad and he usually gives me MUCH better food. Yesterday for instance, Dad and Grandpere were eating pie (which I really would have enjoyed)  and I got a BUNCH of turkey! Mom only gives me sweet potato, which I do enjoy, but turkey is much much better. The only problem was that it gave me a bit of a tummy ache, so later that night I had to lie on the couch by Mom so that she could rub my belly while I whimpered sadly.

Sneaker Time

Yesterday morning Mom let me go outside and play in the backyard. I love running around the backyard and barking at the people walking by. Yesterday was made even more fun by the fact that Dad had been considerate enough to leave a pair of sneakers outside for me to play with. I grabbed a sneaker and ran around the yard like a crazy dog. Eventually I was lured inside by a treat. Mom was very busy in the kitchen and I could smell all kinds of good things, but I was a little stressed by the fact that the oven was on and I would have to be on the lookout for smoke. Dad eventually showed up and started peeling something called turnips. A piece dropped on the floor but it did not smell or taste good so I left it. What was weird though is later Dad came back and started smashing up the turnip which had cooked-he added butter and cream and pieces flew all over the place as he mashed it. I tasted some again and it was much better. Dad is a good cook! Finally the company had all arrived and it was time to eat (but a lot earlier than I usually eat). We went into the living room and I got to eat too. Mom gave me some sweet potato (she cooked a whole one just for me), some shredded turkey and , best of all, some bacon! Real bacon, not the fake "doggy" bacon that Dad buys me. All in all, it was a very tasty day.

Just doing my job

In case you don't know, my Dad is a volunteer firefighter. I'm a junior firefighter and I take my job VERY seriously. Dad says that I am better than a fire alarm. When they use the fire pit outside, I get very upset cause they never put a bucket of water next to it. I usually hide by the kitchen door.  On Saturday, Mom decided to bake some cookies. She put them in the oven and then she went out to get bagels. Well, the parchment paper started smoking and her cookies started burning. Smoke makes me very nervous. I started  howling and barking to get Dad's attention! The smoke alarm didn't even go off, but I was on the job. I barked and howled and made such a fuss that Dad came downstairs. He took Mom's cookies out of the oven and put them outside, and left the door open so the smoke would clear. Then he let me come upstairs with him to the non-smoky area. When Mom came home she was very confused as to why her cookies were sitting outside. I came down to show her all the burnt bits but she wouldn't let me eat any! She did give me a dog biscuit for my good fire alarm skills.

A howl a day...

Today was a great day! Mom came into the kitchen with her coat on and attached my leash. I noticed that she had her keys in her hand. I know what that means-A ride in the car! When Mom opened the door, I pulled her outside and around the corner to the garage. Then I had to wait for her to put me in the car. Finally we were off. I whimpered excitedly hoping we were going somewhere good. We parked and I jumped out. We are at the bank. We went into the bank which has really good acoustics, so I started to howl. I'm not sure that all the employees appreciated my singing but the echoes were impressive. Mom gave me a dog biscuit to shut me up. I do like a bank that cares about their 4 legged customers!
We got back in the car and drove some more. This time we got out at the library! I love the library! I got to see all my friends: Gary, Vito, Elaine, Theresa, Mela, Angela (who has still not sucumbed to my extreme cuteness), Peggy (who pets me even though she is a cat person), Diane Z, Lori, and of course my bestest friend (the sister of my bff, Rigby!) GRACE! I got a lot of belly rubs (which are more ticklish now that they shaved my belly!). All in all, this is an excellent day!

My life as a pile of leaves

Last night Mom took me out for a walk. She wanted it to be a fast walk as she was cold. I however am a winter dog! I love the cold! Plus there were a lot of leaf piles and I love leaf piles! Everytime we came to one, I hurled myself onto it and rolled around like a crazy dog. When I got up, there were tons of leaves attached to me. I did this 4 times which made Mom say that I looked like a walking leaf pile. She tried to pull some off me but I like to keep a few around to snack on later when I'm in the house. When we got home, I heard Dad upstairs and ran up the stairs before Mom could grab me. Dad told Mom to de-leaf me before I got into the bed. Mom found a leaf under my ear (I had been saving that one). Mom said she should bring the camera on walks and take photos of me wearing my fall fashion.

An exhausting weekend

This weekend was very exhausting for me! First of all on Saturday, Mom sewed up all 10 of my injured stuffed toys. Then (silly Mom) she put them all down on the floor for me. I was SO happy. But  then I went on a murderous rampage. There was carnage. Within 10 minutes the floor was covered in white stuffing, plastic squeaker pieces were everywhere and I had devoured 2 tentacles and about a pound of fabric. 6 toys were eviserated. 4 were so badly destroyed that Mom could not save them at all and they went in the garbage without me being able to eat them all up. I think Mom could have fixed the octopus but she didn't seem to care. In fact, she took the other 4 away from me. I was forced to lie on the ground and whine sadly for my lost tennis ball located under the couch.
Sunday was no better. Dad took me out for a walk and then we got in the car! I love going for rides in the car! We went to a pet store-the land of tasty smells and sometimes other animals. Sadly though, we went into the bad part. Where they stick you on a cold table and remove huge amounts of fur from your tender nether regions! Yup, they shaved my bottom! And then they did my belly! Now you can see my bellybutton! I'll probably freeze to death this winter with all this fur missing! I know it was all Mom's idea!

No one tucked me in

Well last night was much better. Mom came to her senses and let me sleep in the bed. She refused to move from my spot though and I was forced to wander around the bed looking for the best place to sleep. She didn't tuck me in either, like Dad does.
I started off at the end of the bed, but got a bit cold. When Mom got up to get some water, I scooted over to MY spot (the most comfortable spot and prewarmed by Mom). Mom came back and scooted me out of the way. I lay by her for a while but then moved again. She was snoring way too much. Finally by morning I ended up in the perfect spot/position for ultimate snoozing.

So alone

Yesterday I was so alone. Mom went out, then went upstairs without even bringing me with her. Then she came down, walked me and took off. I saw her again briefly at dinner. Then she left and didn't return until hours later. This made me sad, bored, lonely and angry. When she finally came home, she brought my dinner into the living room. I ate quickly then sat in front of Mom and barked. When she got up, I bit her pants and bumped the back of her leg. Take that, I thought-you left me alone all day and now you refuse to play with me! Mom tricked me onto the couch with the fake promise of a fake snack. Betrayed I thought. Then she put my leash on and brought me outside. I was full of energy and just wanted to run and let out my inner wolf. I ran in circles around Mom. Mom sighed and dragged me back inside. We went into the kitchen and she grabbed a handfull of cookies. I ran up the stairs cause I was hoping she'd give me a whole cookie for good behavior. But no, she only gave me a piece and locked me in my condo.
Today has been no better. There is no late morning visit from Dad. I don't know where he is. Mom came home at lunch at gave me some cheese. I accepted her peace offering and did not try to knock her over. Maybe tonight we'll play.

Trespassers!

Last night Mom took me out for a walk. I was hoping to take the route that involves the acorn tree. I enjoy sniffing and sampling the wide variety of acorns that are scattered all over the ground. Plus I've noticed that squirrels seem to hang out there and it's my goal to catch one. Sadly Mom is so slow that I have yet to get within playing distance.
As soon as we walked out the door, I smelled something. Something is not right, I thought. Some trespasser has been running all over the front lawn without my permission! I ran around tracking the steps of this rude animal. I tried to tell Mom what it was, but she is unable to understand me. I pulled her down the sidewalk trying to figure out where it had gone. Then I tried to pull her under the bushes into the neighbors side yard but she forced me to turn around and go home. That annoyed me, so in revenge I whined for a while after eating my cookie in my condo.

Old enough to go somewhere on my own.

Mom said that in about 1 month I will be going on an adventure. She won't tell me where, but she said I'll be having a sleepover somewhere-without her and Dad.I guess when you are 3, you are old enough to go somewhere on your own. I told her she should write up some things about me to give whoever is watching me a head's up. Here it is:

TOP 10 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT ME! (MECKI TESSIER)
First a short biography: I am an extremely quiet (never a bark out of me!), non bouncy, introverted pup. I never bother anyone…. (Mom will tell you these are all lies, but don’t believe her).
10. I have no dew claws! So no worries there. Not quite sure what happened to them, Mom won’t say.
9.   Commands I know but may or may not obey (depending on my mood and the treat being offered): sit, down, bang, rollover, fetch, bring, drop, give, come, inside, eat your food.
8.   I am used to being stepped on. I may let out a squeak, but I am a stoic German dog and will walk it off. The same goes for concussions.
7.   Mom likes to take me on Bataan Death March walks. However, I do NOT need that much exercise and will hurl myself down of the grass and roll around if forced to walk too far.
6.   I am allergic to dog food. However I will accept the following items as a replacement: red apples (never green), banana, baby carrots, cheese of any variety, paper, tissues, socks, anything you are eating.
5.  I will go in the hated crate if you give me a treat. I will however whine and whimper softly under my breath, so that you will feel bad and let me sleep in my rightful spot on your pillow.
4.  When you lock me in the land of NO and try to leave, I will run after you and jump up, just hitting you in the back of your knee causing it to collapse. My hope is that you will fall on the floor in the kitchen and hang out with me.
3.  I prefer to have company when eating. I can tell the difference between someone just sitting there, and someone actually eating.  Once you start eating and I realize I am not getting any of your food (which is rude, you should always share), I will grudgingly start eating my food.
2.   I will only climb stairs when you don’t want me to. If you are not looking, I will run swiftly up the stairs. If you want me to go upstairs I will collapse on the floor as I am a small dog and stairs are VERY hard for me.
1.    I am very fast/agile when I don’t want to be caught. Mom likes to keep me on a leash in order to catch me quickly.  Oh, and don’t be disturbed when I lie down in an “S” shape, it very comfortable!

The best birthday present ever!

So last night, Mom gave me my birthday present from my bff Rigby and his sister Grace. (Notice that Mom has NOT bought me a birthday present! I didn't even get to eat one of her tasty socks that came back from vacation with her!). I got a card, a squeaky kong like toy and 2 biscuits-but Mom only let me eat one. The squeaky toy is the BEST toy ever! When Mom first gave it to me, I smelled it all over. Then I licked it. I didn't even realize that it made noise! Then Mom picked it up and squeaked it. I fell in love instantly. It made a great noise. I sat down (with my back end wiggling in anticipation) like I do when Mom and I play fetch. She threw it and I ran to get it, grabbed it and squeaked it like crazy. Then I ran around squeaking estatically! I wonder why Mom never bought me an awesome present like this! I only stopped playing with it when Mom offered me a biscuit! It was the biggest biscuit ever! And so tasty! Thanks Rigby and Grace! I love it! Here's some photos that Dad took!

Mom's back!

Now that is both good and bad. Bad in that I have grown accustomed to MY spot in the bed (and Mom is not much for bouncy dogs in the bed at night). In fact this is how I pretty much spent the 3 weeks that Mom was gone-snuggling with Dad:

Notice that Mom likes to sleep on MY side of the bed and usually banishes me to my condo (aka her nightstand). She also does not appreciate me drooling on her pillows. So that is done, I'm back in the condo-even though I try to dig my way out and bark at night now to bug Mom.
The good part? Walks are back. Even though I hurl myself down on the ground and refuse to budge to aggravate Mom, I do like a god stroll. Especially when we walk past the acorn tree. I like to sniff each acorn and sample some each time we pass. Scruffs and sleeping on Mom's lap are good. And she always gives me a little taste of what she is eating. Mostly cause I jump on her lap and stare sadly at her until she does. And the clothes she brings back from vacation always smell awesome. I did miss her, so I've spent a lot of time lying on her so that she knows I care.

Safety first

Today is Mom's last blog for a couple of weeks as she is going away and Dad is too busy to blog. I for one am glad she is going cause lately I fear for my life with her around. It started a couple of weeks ago...
Usually I am in charge of my concussions. As my head is the hardest part of my body, I do not hesitate to use it for crashing into things and bumping things! I run like a mad dog down the hallway and crash into the wall. That is how I roll. But one morning Mom decided to give me a concussion. She let me out of my condo and put on my collar and leash. I responded by grabbing a sock and running around with it, forgetting that I was on my leash and catchable. Mom cut to the chase, said HAHA! and stepped on my leash. As I was running, this forced me up short and propelled me into the door with a loud thud! Mom was horrified, but I walked it off.
Today however, we came very close to needing an ambulance! Mom was emptying out Mr. Freckles tub of water in the backyard as she is going away and wanted to give him a clean home. She was scooping out his water with a  smaller bucket and dumping it in the tomato garden. She got to the bottom and there was NO MR. FRECKLES! Mom was wondering if a bird or a cat had gotten him when she heard a small splashing noise. She had accidently dumped Mr. Freckles in the tomato garden! Or so she says. She grabbed Mr. Freckles and dumped him into some water.  She cleaned out the tub and put Mr. Freckles back in his home. That was a close call!  And that I why I am glad that Mom is going away for some R and R. It will be much safer without her!

A public bath-could life get any worse?

Mom (and sometimes Dad) sometimes seem to go out of their way to humiliate me.Today was a prime example. We went for a ride in the car. We didn't seem to be heading towards the bad places (the woofer wash-where I get hosed down yet also possibly get antlers-or to the dog park, where sometimes dogs are quite mean!) but we didn't seem to be headed anywhere good (the library, Rigby's estate....). I decided to enjoy the ride and climbed on Mom so I could stick my head out the window (don't worry, she keeps a tight grip on me). We got to a big parking lot and got out. One of the stores smelled pretty good. It was right next to a store called 5 below. Dad went inside and Mom made me walk around outside first. Finally we went inside and it smelled great! There was dog food everywhere and snacks and toys. I was quite happy to look around. But then,  suddenly, Mom grabbed me and put me in a bathtub! Oh no! I've been dopnapped and brought to yet another public bath! It was horrible. Mom hosed me down and put stinky shampoo all over me. I howled in distress but that just made all the people in the store turn and look at me. No one tried to save me! She hosed me off again then stuck on even stinkier conditioner! After I was hosed off, Dad came over and toweled me off. Then they turned a big fan on me. Now, sadly, I am totally fluffy and really don't smell like myself. Now I kinda understand  how my bff feels with freshly cleaned carpets and new furniture. It is like being in an alternate universe!

Just a little tired, but energy is building back up...

I am only now recovered from Saturday. I don't like to admit it, but I was slightly tuckered out after a morning with my bff and his family! And even more shocking was that Rigby's sis was able to get some shots of my face! Normally I am a quiet and reserved pup who does not like to bring attention to himself. So usually I make sure that my bottom is in photos rather than my face. I am however , through no fault of my  own, a very handsome pup. Enjoy some photos of me:
It's a thirsty job running around Rigby's estate with him!

I have a very cute  nose! Always moist and cold.

Here my bff and I are having a well deserved rest.

Dog Days!

Mom was actually right! It was a fun day! Mom, Dad and I went to Old Westbury Gardens (aka my bff  Rigby's estate)! And guess who was there! My bff Rigby, his sister Grace and his Mom! We walked all over except where they wouldn't let us! Dad sat on a bench and listened to music and watched the geese while the rest of us went to see all there was to see!
I always have so much fun when I get to see Rigby! I think that Grace managed to get some photos of me although I always try to avoid that!

A Promise of Fun

It was a really weird morning. Normally I am up really early and make it my job to whine and whimper sadly to ensure that Mom wakes up too! However, this morning I was peacefully slumbering when an earthquake hit! All of a sudden my pillow was shaking! I woke up all right-groggy and confused-only to finally realize that Mom was shaking my pillow. I think (due to my new wolf like attitude) that she was afraid to stick her hand in my condo and wake me up. I looked at her for a bit and she waited until my eyes lost their predatory shine to rub me on the head. Then she put my collar on and took me downstairs. We went outside and then back inside for breakfast and fresh water. And I must agree with my bff Rigby that water is BLAND! I went under the kitchen chair and lay down to take a nap.
Later, I woke up to the sound of Mom running through the living room. She ran to the kitchen, grabbed my leash, hooked me and and ran out the front door with me. Apparently she thought it might rain and wanted me to get a good walk in before-because as everyone knows, I am NOT a fan of water (unless it is in the form of ice cubes or snow). When we came  back, she let me snuggle with her on the couch for a while. She told me that something fun  and exciting was going to happen on Saturday! I am a little worried cause I'm not sure that Mom and I have the same concept of fun. She seems to think it is fun to drag me on hideously long walks and to give me a bath! I guess I will have to wait and see.

Full of kinetic energy

Mom says that I should be studied as a new source of energy. My tail wagging alone could power the house she often says.  I cannot help that I am chock full of energy all the time! Last night was boys night. Dad and I were alone in the house (no MOM!). We had dinner together, then we lounged on the couch for a while-just relaxing. Later something surprising happened. Dad and I went for a walk-a real walk (in fact a Mom like walk!). But it was much more fun with Dad cause he doesn't drag me quickly down the street. We mosey slowly and peacefully. When we finally got back to the house, I ran inside and discovered that Mom was  home! She had thought the long walk would drain my energy, but no. I am like one of those toy cars. You pull it  back and it goes zooming around. I had built up a lot of energy on the walk, so I ran over to Mom, jumped up on the couch, jumped off, grabbed my little soccer ball and went careening around the house, growling and snarling like a wild thing! Nothing wears me out!

Emulating my ancestors

Mom changed my food. I was hoping for a cheese and bacon diet but Mom is too smart for that. Or so she thinks. She really should have payed more attention to what she was switching me too. Before, I was eating Chicken and Rice. It was very very boring. Basically I would eat whatever additions Mom put on top (like real rice, pieces of apple or carrots -or if I was especially lucky and Dad was making dinner-Meat Juice-from whatever meat he had cooked that was resting on a plate). Mom was wondering if my food had anything to do with my allergies (she should have been more concerned about how food relates to my personality) so she switched me to a Wilderness formula-Salmon -with no grains. The cover of the bag has a big WOLF on it, and this new food is really good. She tried to fake me out by mixing it with my Chicken and rice, but I just eat all the new kibble first and leave the old food for later. I don't know if it's helping my allergies but it tastes great and it is really bringing out my inner Wolf! I have been howling a lot more lately and acting like a wild ferocious beast!
Yesterday Mom and I went for a walk. We met a small boy who asked what kind of dog I was . Mom told him what I was and told him he could pet me if he wanted as I was very friendly. So he petted me and said that he was getting a dog in two years when he turns 11. I was my normal friendly self, until he went inside. Then the inner wolf snarled his way out. Mom wanted to keep walking, but the wolf did NOT! I turned and grabbed Mom's pants cuff and chomped on them, growling and pulling. Then I ran around in a circle at the end of my leash and ended with a crocodile death roll, hurling myself down on the ground. Mom was horrified! Which is what I was going for. She told me we were going home, so I got up and dragged her across the street towards the house. I was still feeling wolfish though, and when we got to the front yard, I started running in all direction to the end of my leash, then I grabbed Mom's cuffs again and started pulling and growling. Then, I made a slight error in my attack. Instead of grabbing Mom's cuff, I might have accidentaly chomped on Mom's ankle. She yelled in horror and surprise, and I lay down (slightly shocked at what I had done). She took me inside and told Dad what I did. He grabbed me, told me I was bad and "sprayed" some binaca in my mouth. Binaca does not taste good at all. I was forced to wipe it all off on the carpet. Mom felt kinda bad as she should.
Later that night, I was feeling wolfish again, or at least feeling like I should be a lone wolf. So I refused to hang out with Mom and Dad. Instead I went and lay with my head in the kitchen ( so I couldn't see them) and howled like I was all alone in the world. Mom and Dad tried to tempt me back into their pack with treats. I went and ate their treats but then went back into the kitchen and howled. It is hard and lonely being a wolf!

Bugging Mom

So, apparently Mom (who constantly tells me how lazy I am) is way too lazy to blog about me lately. She obviously thinks that she is already on vacation! But Dad said that she is still around for 2 more weeks so today I barked at her until she blogged! So much has happened and been forgotten since she blogged last. She went on a mini vacation to visit Aunt Jeanette and I reclaimed my rightful spot in the bed (next to Dad!). I got to snuggle and be his back warmer for 3 whole days. Then Mom returned and said that I am NOT allowed in the bed cause I am too bouncy. Dad stuck up for me and said that I just curl up and go to sleep, not that Mom believed him (plus Dad falls asleep instantly and I can sit on his head (and I have) without him knowing). Mom" relented" and let Dad put me in the bed one night. She relented in that she was kinda sleeping but she did NOT say no! I ran up to her and licked her whole face! Who knew that Mom did not like to be awakened in this manner! Dad lay down and fell asleep. I bounced around the bed-mostly cause Mom was in MY spot! She wouldn't move so I started barking at her. All she had to do was move, but no, she got mad and scooped me up and put me in my crate. She did give me my cookie though.
The next couple of days I decided to be mean to her. I don't want to go to bed when she goes to bed. I want to stay up with Dad! So whenever she brought me up, I would start whining the instant she put me in my crate. She would hold out for 1/2 an hour to 1 hour but eventually she would get up, take me out and send me down to Dad. Dad and I have a lot of fun  "fighting the dawn". We stay up late and watch tv and have snacks. Mom doesn't know what she's missing.
Since it's not so hot out, Mom and I have been going for longer walks. This was NOT something I wanted at all! I think she is just using me as an excuse to walk a lot! I don't know how Dad avoids going on these long treks with her! Anyway at least these walks give me a chance to see my friends. I saw Chief from across the street who still does not like me, I don't know why. I got to see my HUGE friend Max next door and my little friend Lilly who lives next door to Max. I got to see my friend Molly who lives down the street too! And I got to meet a new friend, Brooklyn (her Dad is friends with my Uncle Rob!).
Mom said we should also discuss my new found obsession with the "upstairs". It's not like I am unaware of the upstairs, after all, my condo is up there along with AT's room! It's just that I suddenly realized that if Mom is doing the dishes and I am free ranging, there is no reason not to go upstairs and create havoc. I am very quiet and sneaky when doing it to, and Mom (and sometimes Dad) don't realize what I have done until they realize how quiet it is. Then they come hunting for me.However, this takes some time so I can do a lot of damage before the come up. So far I 've been in the garbage 3 times, eaten half a sock and even worse (at least for Mom) got into the laundry basket of clean clothes and ate Mom's underwear! Now they are on to me and put a big piece of cardboard on the stairs to stop me.  The best part of being found upstairs is that I still refuse to walk upstairs with Mom and night-I flop on the floor and make her carry me! Mom is complaining that she is exhausted after this long blog and will not type any more. Oh well, at least she can blog for 2 more weeks about me!

Wearing out humans and dog from day 1

Mom, being as rude as she is, said that she should loan me out to exhaust children and dogs. Apparently I have WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too much energy! For example yesterday, one of the best days ever, I was minding my own business, lying by the front door and making sure nothing happened without a) me knowing about it and b) me barking about it. All of a sudden a car pulled up. Cars generally mean company and belly rubs, so I sat up to see who it was. It was my friend Grace AND my bff Rigby! I started barking and howling as Mom dragged me away from the door. She told Grace to come through the gate into the backyard. Mom took me into the backyard and I started barking. Eventually Grace and Rigby came in! Hooray I thought-I can play with Rigby. But sadly, I exhausted him. I bounced, pounced, sat on his head and generally tried to get him to chase me. We played for a while, but apparently I am over energized (due to the kinetic energy generated by my tail wagging). Then all of a sudden, I heard another voice! It was my friend Joan (Joan of the tasty baby carrots!!!) I bounced around and said hello to her. It was an awesome night! Mom took some videos!

Mom's not so smart

Mom is not very smart. She knows that I am fully capable of doing what I want, when I want. Yet, yesterday morning she gave me free range of the house while she ate breakfast. For a while I sat in the kitchen with her and played with my kibble (the more to lull her in to a false sense of security). Then I casually sauntered out of the kitchen. I ran up the stairs (something I never let Mom see cause then she would not fall for my "I'm waaaaaay to tired to climb the steps at night" carry me to bed act. I ran into AT's room, but it was clean -nothing to grab there. I ran into my room and chewed on one of Dad's socks for a while, but it didn't taste as good as a Mom sock. Then I discovered the garbage can in the bathroom. I am never allowed in the bathroom, usually the door is closed. It is amazing what you can find to eat in the bathroom garbage can. I feasted for a while but suddenly I heard Mom calling me. Apparently Mom realized how quiet it was downstairs and went looking for me! She didn't find me downstairs so she came flying upstairs! I ran full speed into AT's room but she cornered me with a big piece of cardboard! She carried me downstairs (which was awesome!) but then she locked me in the kitchen. So rude! I was happy though, cause I had pulled one over on Mom. Sadly though it came back to bite me this morning at 6am. Yup, the tummy was NOT happy and Mom had to get up and clean up a mess. So technically, I guess I got her twice!

Et Tu Dad?

Today I had a nice sleepy morning. I woke Mom up at 6am to go outside. Then I refused to walk up the stairs so Mom put me in the kitchen. That was perfect as I do my best napping on the cool floor. Later as usual, Mom reappeared for a brief moment and then left. I settled down to snooze. A noise awoke me and there was Mom! And even better, Dad appeared! I heard him on the stairs so I ran over to wag my tail at him! Mom and Dad put me in the car and I was very happy! I love going for rides. There are two things I like to do when riding in the car, but they only work if I am sitting on Mom's lap! Number 1: I stick my entire head out the window, nose pointed up  (like the figurehead on a ship) and the wind whips all my fur back. AT told Dad that I like the car rides best when we go 20 smells per hour. Number 2: I stick my legs on the window and put my chest, neck and head out the window, pointing down. Mom said I look like a seal preparing to dive when I do this. Anyway the ride was nice, but then we stopped at the antler place. The antler place is cool (cause it has antlers!) but it is also frightening cause they give you baths there! Dad and AT took me there once for a bath. It was horrible! I turned around and gave Dad a baleful look. Et tu Dad I thought!  All the sinks were full so I was hoping we wouldn't wait, but we did. Eventually Mom stuck me in the sink and Dad started washing away. It was awful. Finally it was done and we got to go home.

Mom and Dad put me in the kitchen and then went away. When they came back, we practiced my new trick (in honor of shark attack). Mom puts a treat on her knee and I lunge up and grab it! With gnashing jaws! It is quite scary if you don't know me. Here you can see me doing it with Dad. I think I scared him which is good!

Apparently they felt bad about the bath and bought me a MEGA ANTLER! It is huge! I can't even carry it around in my mouth!

So many kids, so much fun!

This has been a great summer in that  there have been a lot of kids around! That means there are always people to play with! Dad can be fun but Mom is no fun at all. So whenever I can play with kids, I make up for lost time. Of course first they have to be trained. There is no point in giving me commands without showing me some snack!

After I trained them sufficiently, I went outside to play with them!

They are fun, not as fun as my library friends though!

When the Dad's away, the Mecki can be oh so bad!

I'm mad at Mom cause she hasn't spent a lot of time with me lately. Today I decided to be super BAD! I woke Mom up at 5:50am and then again at 7:00am. She was not happy the second time! Cause I made her carry me up the stairs both times! After taking me out at 7, she left me in the kitchen. When she finally came down I made her feel bad so she let me go play outside. So I went, but refused to come inside when she called, and even when she shook the beggin strips bag at me (and let me tell you that took  A LOT of self control). Finally when I was ready, I barked at the door to be let in. Mom was not happy and did not give me a beggin strip-which was quite rude! She went to use the computer and gave me free rein (silly of her!). I grabbed Dad's sandal and positioned myself with it so that she could see me from the computer room. I just sat there until she looked at me, once she looked I started chewing on Dad's sandal! She came running out and grabbed me.  But then she went back to the computer. As soon as she was busy, I ran upstairs (yes, I can easily run up and down the stairs, but why should I when she is there to carry me?) and started chewing whatever I could find. Eventually Mom started looking for me and came upstairs and rudely grabbed me in mid chew. Now I am banished to the kitchen,.

Mom crosses the line

Sometimes Mom does not know when to stop. Remember last week when I was playing with my new octopus toy and she said no good would come of this? Well she jinxed me! Right after she said that, I ate an appendage. Take that I thought with a smirk. Nothing wrong with sampling the toys! Mom didn't give up and said to Dad that someone was going to be ill later. But I was fine. Until early this morning. Around 5:30am , things started to feel not quite right in my condo and more particularly in my belly. I was about to start whimpering sadly but there was not enough time and up came that appendage. Now when someone is not feeling well, you do not need perky cheerleaders in the background!!!! That is just plain rude. But there was Mom, on the floor in front of my condo with paper towels. She yelled up to Dad in a decidedly perky and self righteous voice "And we HAVE an appendage!!!" . Dad was impressed that I hadn't really messed up my pillow or the floor. I just lay sadly on my pillow and went back to sleep. Just wait until Mom is sick I thought.

Best treats ever!

Last night was a night of surprises. First Dad came home with THE.BEST.TREATS. EVER!!!!!  I have never had anything that tasty.. ever... in my entire life! They were so good that I did not politely take them with my front teeth. I just chomped and whatever was there (fingers, hands etc) was just collateral damage. Very unlike me as I am generally quite polite. Then Dad gave me an awesome toy! Mom was not happy-she said no good will come of this, but we all ignored her. Annoyingly she was right. About five minutes after getting it, I had removed a squeaker and eaten an appendage about the size of a Mom sock. My tummy feels a little funny but I'm sure it will go away.

A Day Outside!

Yesterday we went on a day trip! Day trips are good cause they mean I can go home and sleep in my condo afterwards and not in the small crate of evil that lives in the kitchen now. Yesterday morning everyone was up and moving around. Mom put on my harness (which means we are going on a longish trip). AT got in the back seat with me and off we went! We drove and drove and drove until finally we were there. Mom said we were in Greenport. We walked around and I met a bunch on nice dogs, and a man who knew what I was! He said I was big and Mom told him I was a standard and weighed 25lbs. He said his wire hair was not a standard but still weighed 25lbs.  We walked around Greenport and went on the piers which were weird cause they moved but they looked like normal ground! I bravely peaked over the edge at the water. We looked at the Fire Boat and went to the Blacksmiths.

Since Mom was taking photos, I made sure to only show my bottom!  Then we went to lunch. We had to walk around a bit to find a place that would let me in too! How rude! Sadly for Mom, we ended up at Crabby Jerry's. That made Mom crabby cause she does not like seafood!  AT had snowcrab legs, Dad had fried clams and Mom had a cheeseburger and sweet potato fries. And what , you might ask did I have??? Well first off it was very distressing to me under the picnic table when I turned around and saw a crab claw lying there poised to attack! I barked furiously at it until Mom kicked it through a crack in the floor into the water. Then Dad came back with a  cup of ice water for me, and Mom shared her sweet potato fries with me!
We left Greenport and drove to a place that smelled like my bff Rigby! But he was not there, we were too late and he had gone home. Then Dad drove us to a place that was really weird. It was a huge Duck! And you could go inside!

When we finally got home I was exhausted. But then my Grandpa showed up so I made an effort and jumped up on the couch to be with him. After dinner I passed out on the floor again.

A Day of Awesomeness!

Yesterday was one of the best days ever! First I went outside with Mom. Normal as expected. But then after offering me kibble and water (which I refused on principle!), she put my leash on and we went outside again, but this time her car was outside! Yay, we're going for a ride I thought! It was a bit toasty in Mom's car, I think she should have thought about my poor bottom and belly and put a towel down for me, cause that seat was HOT! As we drove up to the library, I was very excited. I'll get to see Grace I thought. Then I noticed (cause Mom had the top down to further cook me) that Gary was right next to the car! That was exciting too. I tried to climb over Mom to get out of the car but she blocked me until she was ready. How rude. We ran into the library but sadly there was no loving crowd of admirer's waiting for me! I saw Angela but she is not fond of me! Gary gave me another belly rub and then I had to WAIT for Rita, Faye and Mary. It was nice to get all the attention but I did miss my friend Grace!
Mom stuck me back in the hot hot car and we left. I thought we were going home but we went to my Grandpa's House! Yay, I get to see my Grandpa I thought. We went inside to a big surprise! Not only was Grandpa there but so were Alec and Julien-they came all the way from France to see me! Finally Mom and I went home where I drank some water and collapsed in the air conditioning. It is hard  being so social, it can really wear you out in the heat!
Mom stuck me in the kitchen and then I heard a lot of people in the house. Mom wouldn't let me out so I could not meet and greet! And that is my number one job! I barked and barked until Dad told me to be quiet! I didn't even know Dad was home! How rude! I should be informed of all comings and goings of family members! Finally the people left and Dad let me out. I sniffed around and tried to go upstairs but they wouldn't let me. Then there was a knock at the door! More people! I tried to go see but Mom sneakily grabbed me so I couldn't say hi to the UPS man! Dad dragged in a long sausage like package and stuck it on the stairs. Before I could sniff it, Mom stuck me in the kitchen yet again! I heard a lot of yelling and noise upstairs! Finally Mom and Dad reappeared and let me out again. Then the door opened and AT and Andrew were there. I said my hellos but I was getting tired at this point. I flopped down in the living room. Mom brought out my food bowl with my untouched kibble but this time it had a frosty paws-Oh yummy peanut butter flavor how I love thee! I gulped it down but left the kibble (principle!). A little while later, Grandpa, Alec and Julien arrived! More hellos!
I was very happy when Mom took me up to bed and I slept really well even though there was new stuff all over the room! At least they didn't touch my condo!

Visiting Grandpa!

Today was a very hot day. I woke Mom up at 5:30am and she took me out for a walk but then forced me to go back upstairs to my crate! How mean! Then she disappeared-off doing something fun I'll bet! When she came back, she went back to bed. I started whimpering and finally she took me out and let me sprawl on the bed. Then Dad told me to go do my job as AT waker upper! I sprang off the bed and bounced across the floor to AT's mattress. I jumped all over him and licked him and finally he woke up. That is a very hard job!
Later on, Mom and I took a ride to my Grandpas! Mom said that tomorrow I will have a big surprise and some more friends to play with. I don't know what that means. It was very hot in Mom's car so when we got home she filled the pool. I don't LIKE the pool. So I ran to the kitchen door in the hopes that AT would save me.But Mom grabbed me and put me in the pool. I jumped right out. She grabbed me again and stuck me back in! Cause she is mean. I ran around the pool gulping down the pleasantly cold water! Then I tried to dig a hole out. Mom said we would have to buy a new pool next year since there is a lot of duct tape holding this one together.

It's hard work being a social butterfly

Yesterday Dad had a HUGE party. Mom looked like she was getting ready to leave but then her plans fell through and she was stuck at home. Lots of people came over and hung out in the backyard! Of course as social director it was left to me to meet and greet. Sadly they all seemed to be cat people, but I didn't give up! I made sure everyone was personally greeted. I was very very tired at the end and spent a huge part of today sleeping.

Friday, July 12, 2013

Well finally Dad has transferred the power and I have new antler! Yay! Here, of course, is a video:
Mom also forgot to put up the torture pictures. Dad made us go to Flushing Meadow park on the HOTTEST day of the year! I have never been so thirsty! I drank the whole bottle of water that Dad bought for me!

I just wanted to go back to the air conditioning! But they are good photos of Mom and AT!

Escape plan almost foiled

Last night Dad came to bed at 4am and woke up me and Mom. I realized this was my chance to escape, so I started panting like a crazy dog! Dad said "boy the dog does not sound good" and then promptly fell asleep. I thought I was stuck so I quieted down for a bit, then thought to myself "but Mom is still awake". So I panted crazily again until she got up and took me downstairs. We went outside and then she put me in the kitchen which was much cooler.

Yesterday was NOT fun

Yesterday was NOT a good day. First of all it was HOT! Mom made me stay in the kitchen with the air on while they were all outside. Not fair at all! Secondly, Mom stole my antler! She said it was too small. I think it was just the right size for portability! Thirdly, Mom and Dad stepped on me! Mom was cooking and I could smell cheese so I sat right between her feet (only she was concentrating of the pot of hot water and didn't see me) and when she went to drain the water, she stepped on me! Then when we went to go eat in the dining room, I positioned myself between Dad and AT's chairs (the better to get the falling food!) and when Dad came in to sit down he stepped on me!
