Dog Days at Old Westbury Gardens-Part 1

I knew today was going to be awesome when I saw Mom approaching with both my harness and my big boy leash-the super long one! After Mom put my harness on, I ran around the living room howling and barking-all excited to get going. Mom got Bastille and put him on a short leash-HA! I thought, he won't be able to get anywhere! Then we got in the car and went to Old Westbury Gardens. After we parked and got out, there were dogs everywhere! I anxiously looked around for my bff Rigby and his family, but didn't see them. I have to warn them about Bastille, I thought, and dragged Mom towards our meeting spot, Rigby's wall. Everyone was there! Rigby, his Ma and Pa and Grace! I got to say hello to everyone while Mom stood behind the wall. Bastille tried his hardest to jump up on the wall and almost made it several times-all the while he was shrieking and carrying on. Mom managed to take a few photos, but I'm sure Grace took some too!
Mecki was barking and howling and I had no idea what was going on. Mom took us out to the car and we went for a ride. When we got out there were tons of people and tons of dogs! I didn't know who to chomp on first! We walked up to a wall and I saw Grace and her family. Then I saw a blond head. That must be Mecki's bff Rigby I thought, should I tell him that I've replaced him? I tried to get over the wall to exert my dominance but it was a little too high. Grace was very impressed with my upper body strength though and my lungpower (I was shrieking a bit). It was a very hot day and Dad made me take a lot of water breaks which was really nice of him.

Here I am hanging out with Rigby and his PA-notice how we are in the shady bits-it was hot out! I thought Bastille was going to explode from the heat!

Here comes Dad and Bastille tromping through the daffodils! Rigby and I prefer to do other things to the daffodils. I got to stomp through flowers! That was awesome!

And best of all, here is Bastille being tormented by Mom and being stuck in the same tree Mom stuck me in last year! I looked much cuter of course. In fact, here are my tree photos from last year just so you can see how much cuter I am!

And now Bastille in the same tree...

Mecki better not be laughing at me. I will chomp on him!

And finally, here I am getting my well deserved belly rubs from Rigby's MA and Grace. It always makes people feel better to rub my belly!

Squeaky Toys (aka Bastille)

Mom gave us our squeaky toys from Aunt Carol so we could play with them. Usually, Bastille is my favorite squeaky thing to chew on, but his noises are not as satisfyingly squeaky! There was a donut and a hamburger. Bastille was chewing on my antler, but decided to be his normally rude self and steal BOTH squeaky toys (even though his mouth is too small to make them squeak!). Mom of course took some photos

These are our "Game Faces". We see the squeaky toys....we await the squeaky toys....Focus is everything....

Here I am rescuing my antler from Bastille while he is focused on his bone and the donut.

Here is Bastille with the Hamburger (that he can't even squeak!) I think he is trying to bang it against Dad's foot to make it squeak.

Here he is after having grabbed BOTH squeaky toys! Fortunately I had my antler!
I only want the squeaky toys because Mecki had them. I WANT everything that Mecki has!

Late Easter presents

Last night Mom finally gave us our easter treats from Aunt Carol! Mom opened a crinkly bag and Bastille and I made sure to sit right in front of her. There was a squeaky donut that Mom tried to give to me, but Bastille really wanted so he got it. Then Mom gave me the squeaky hamburger which was awesome! Bastille just stood there with the donut in his mouth (and in front of his face-it's a good thing he has those bulgy eyes that look sideways or he wouldn't have been able to see at all). I ran around squeaking my hamburger, throwing my hamburger around and squeaking it some more. Bastille just stood there watching. I ran up to him and squeaked my hamburger right in his face, then ran away while making my special growly "play with me" noise. Bastille dropped the donut, stepped on it (making a small squeak as he does not weigh that much) and then stole my antler. I ran over and squeaked my hamburger at him, but he ignored me. Then I figured out the problem! His face is so squished that his mouth is not big enough to squeak the donut! So I stole it and ran around squeaking some more. Then Mom gave us the cookies from Aunt Carol. She made Bastille wait to eat his. I grabbed mine and ran! Mom said she would take videos tonight.
Last night we got new toys! Mom was giving Mecki a donut but I took it instead. Then he got a hamburger! That is so unfair! I stood there holding onto the donut while Mecki ran around obnoxiously squeaking. The donut was so big that I could hardly hold on to it, let alone squeak it.  Yet Mecki ran around throwing his hamburger around and grabbing it and then running up and squeaking it in my ear. That made me angry. So I dropped the donut, grabbed the antler and jumped onto one of Mecki's beds to chomp on it. This did not stop him. He kept running over and squeaking at me! Finally Mom took the toys away and decided to give us our cookies from Aunt Carol. We both jumped up on the couch cause we LOVE Mom when she has food! Mom gave Mecki half a cookie and he ate it. Then Mom put the other half on her knee and told me to stay! I stretched myself out towards the cookie, but Mom said stay again. I lay there staring at the cookie. Finally Mom said ok and I chomped on that cookie!

The Night began well....

Last night started really well. Bastille and I had gotten some bacon earlier in the day, some ham-all was well with the universe. Mom took Bastille outside for his last walk and took him upstairs leaving me alone with Dad. That was great! I got to lie on the couch and snuggle with Dad all night long (cause Dad doesn't like to go up to bed!) We're just gonna hang out here and fight the dawn I thought. But eventually Dad got up and took me outside. Then we went upstairs and Dad took off my leash and collar. He went into the bathroom and then went into the bedroom and closed the door. I was perplexed by this as I had been in the hall snuffling under Grandpere's door to see if he was there. I sat in the hall for a few minutes and then remembered that Mom usually leaves a treat in my crate. So I walked over, bumped the bedroom door open with my snout and moseyed in. Apparently opening the door startled Mom and Dad as they both popped up in bed. I stopped a minute then walked over to my crate making tick tick tick noises on the wooden floor. Sadly, Dad had locked my crate! And I wasn't even in it! I sat outside looking sadly at my treat. Dad got up, turned on the lights and seemed surprised that I was there. Mom started laughing and said , "I can't believe you locked him out of the room and out of his crate!". Dad opened my crate and I walked in, grabbing my treat on the way. I lay down and crunched my cookie while Dad locked the crate, turned off the light and shut the door. I bet that doesn't happen to Bastille I thought.

Free Range Bastille

This weekend, Mom told me I was a big boy! Then Dad and Grandpere came and dismantled my house! This was quite disturbing. Are they kicking me out? Then Mom did kick everyone out of the kitchen! She was in there for a long time, moving stuff and making the kitchen smell like the pine trees outside. Then she came out but she wouldn't let Mecki and me back in the kitchen. Plus she moved my bed and all my toys into the living room. Maybe she is getting rid of me? Perhaps because I am not house trained yet? I lay down to ponder this all. A while later, Mom came and took my bed into the kitchen and then went upstairs and brought down my old crate. That went into the kitchen too. Finally, Mom let us back in. I ran in to see what was going on. Everything was different! There was no more wooden pen. Instead, my bed was under the table by the radiator and my old crate was next to it, with some toys inside. Mecki came in and took my rope toy.

Now I am banned from the kitchen! This is quite unfair. Not that I want to hang out in there or anything. But Bastille is in romping around and I can't get to him! Plus he was very rude and peed in my bed again. I just wanted to get in there and steal his toys!

Polar dogs

Mom apparently thinks it is cold outside, but I disagree. If she would just let me outside to play I would be in heaven. But no, she drags me (and my wimpy little brother) Bastille outside for walks and is then annoyed when we take to long to do what we have to do.  Bastille just spends his time shivering. That is because he has NO fur-his fur seems to be everywhere but on his body. Even when Mom sticks a sweater or coat on him, he still shivers. I guess Mom felt bad for him, cause she made him a coat. She made me a coat but I am too fond of the snow to wear it.
It is VERY cold outside! Mom made me a coat out of polar fleece but she got the wrong kind of velcro and it didn't stay on. It was very warm though and I hope she fixes it soon. I looked amazing in it. It is a french coat for a french bulldog! All I need is a beret and a baguette!

So sorry, NOT!

Mom says that I need to apologize to all my friends at the FSPL, especially Grace. Apparently Mom had made some banana bread for her co-workers, and it is not my fault that she failed to inform me of this fact. She had bundled it up and stuck it in her work bag and then went off to find Dad. I was casually wandering around the living room when I smelled something delicious. Now Mom knows that one of my very important jobs is to inspect any incoming bags. Every time Mom comes back from the supermarket, I make my way into the kitchen to schnuffle through each bag. So really, all I was doing was my job. So once I smelled something yummy, I just had to taste it. I gobbled and gobbled down banana bread until I heard Mom approaching. Not knowing what to do, I fell back into my "I have something I'm not supposed to have" behavior and ran madly about. Mom was confused, because I did  not have anything. So she went into the kitchen to wash dishes. I then gobbled some more until I heard her coming back. Mom came and went to pick up her bag when all of a sudden she realized that she could see the plate that the foil wrapped banana bread was on. That was when I got in trouble. She yelled at me and stuck me in the kitchen with Bastille. And then she told me that I was getting my bottom shaved later! Does she not know how cold it is outside? Now I will have a cold bottom!
I should probably tell everyone how yesterday started out great, but then went downhill quickly. Mom grabbed Bastille early yesterday morning and took him into the "BATHROOM"! Ha, I thought to myself, Bastille is very stinky and he must be getting a bath! So I listened outside the door but all I could hear was water. I had to wait until he came out to find out all about it. I'll let him tell you.
It was quite rude of Mecki not to warn me that I was going to get a bath! I was happy that Mom was taking off my collar and harness-I thought that it was bedtime! But no. We went into the bathroom and Mom stuck me in a tub of warm water and then sprayed me with water! My eyes are bulgy to  begin with, but they almost popped out of my head in horror! She covered me with stinky puppy oatmeal shampoo and scrubbed me so hard that I thought my spots would disappear (but they didn't). Then she stuck me in a towel and rubbed me all over. Then I thought I would be able to go play after such indignity, but no, she stuck me back in my pen. And I could see Mecki smirking in the corner by the pantry.
Sadly, later in the afternoon, Mom dragged me into the bathtub. I get the special shampoo that has to stay on for 10 minutes, then the creme rinse has to stay on for 10 minutes. All in all, it is a horrible 1/2 hour of my life that I can never get back. Mom tried to dry me off, but my wire coat takes a looooooong time to dry. I usually help it along by running full steam down the hallway and then hurling myself onto the carpet and sliding along sticking all the excess water into the carpet. Mom does not appreciate it and Grand-pere thought I was having a fit! Finally I was relatively dry, just in time to go outside where I tried to get Mom to let me off the leash so that I could roll in the snow!
